![]() While Sun workstations did not use commodity PC hardware, for which Linux was later originally developed, it represented the first successful commercial attempt at distributing a primarily single-user microcomputer that ran a Unix operating system. Later, Sun Microsystems, founded as a spin-off of a student project at Stanford University, also began selling Unix-based desktop workstations in 1982. Onyx Systems began selling early microcomputer-based Unix workstations in 1980. In 1984, AT&T divested itself of its regional operating companies, and was released from its obligation not to enter the computer business freed of that obligation, Bell Labs began selling Unix as a proprietary product, where users were not legally allowed to modify it. As a result, Unix grew quickly and became widely adopted by academic institutions and businesses. ĭue to an earlier antitrust case forbidding it from entering the computer business, AT&T licensed the operating system's source code as a trade secret to anyone who asked. The availability of a high-level language implementation of Unix made its porting to different computer platforms easier. In 1973, in a key pioneering approach, it was rewritten in the C programming language by Dennis Ritchie (with the exception of some hardware and I/O routines). First released in 1971, Unix was written entirely in assembly language, as was common practice at the time. ![]() The Unix operating system was conceived and implemented in 1969, at AT&T's Bell Labs, in the United States by Ken Thompson, Dennis Ritchie, Douglas McIlroy, and Joe Ossanna. Linux is one of the most prominent examples of free and open-source software collaboration. This includes routers, automation controls, smart home devices, video game consoles, televisions (Samsung and LG Smart TVs), automobiles (Tesla, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, and Toyota), and spacecraft ( Falcon 9 rocket, Dragon crew capsule, and the Perseverance rover). Linux also runs on embedded systems, i.e., devices whose operating system is typically built into the firmware and is highly tailored to the system. Linux is the leading operating system on servers (over 96.4% of the top one million web servers' operating systems are Linux), leads other big iron systems such as mainframe computers, and is used on all of the world's 500 fastest supercomputers (as of November 2017, having gradually displaced all competitors). Although Linux is, as of November 2022, used by only around 2.6 percent of desktop computers, the Chromebook, which runs the Linux kernel-based ChromeOS, dominates the US K–12 education market and represents nearly 20 percent of sub-$300 notebook sales in the US. Because of the dominance of Linux-based Android on smartphones, Linux, including Android, has the largest installed base of all general-purpose operating systems as of May 2022. Linux was originally developed for personal computers based on the Intel x86 architecture, but has since been ported to more platforms than any other operating system. Because Linux is freely redistributable, anyone may create a distribution for any purpose. Distributions intended for servers may not have a graphical user interface at all, or include a solution stack such as LAMP. Desktop Linux distributions include a windowing system such as X11 or Wayland and a desktop environment such as GNOME or KDE Plasma. Commercial distributions include Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SUSE Linux Enterprise. Popular Linux distributions include Debian, Fedora Linux, Arch Linux, and Ubuntu. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses and recommends the name " GNU/Linux" to emphasize the use and importance of GNU software in many distributions, causing some controversy. Linux is typically packaged as a Linux distribution (distro), which includes the kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Linux ( / ˈ l ɪ n ʊ k s/ LIN-uuks) is a family of open-source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991, by Linus Torvalds.

![]() It has an active gameplay rhythm that makes sense(ish) and has a substantial skill curve that would reward a tactical player. It isn't at all what I expected but this does allow Limbo to stay in the Rift forever by doing some weird alternated castings of Banish and Rift Surge. This does NOT Banish the enemy, they only have the Surge effect, they have to be Banished then Banished again for this to do anything. The Surge status is transferred to a single random enemy within 25m (no, not the closest, its random. This removes the Rift surge status from affected enemies but does NOT un-banish them.īanishes enemies near the targets you casted Banish on.Ĭompletely ignore the Surge status transferring to other enemies when a Surged enemy is killed. While in the Rift, cast Banish on Surged enemies. if the ability did this then people would have been using it,Īfter too much testing, how to actually use Rift Surge. Basically it would let Limbo only have to cast Banish once, enter the Rift, and as long as there was a constant supply of enemies Limbo could perpetually bring enemies into the Rift by killing. Just keep killing Surged enemies until no enemies remain. Killing a surged enemy in the Rift will banish nearby enemies that were not in the Rift and apply the Surged status. ![]() What this made me assume was the proper way to use Rift Surge Enemies banished by the effect of Rift Surge will be knocked-down and take 300 Impact transitional damage upon entering or leaving the Rift plane. Killing a surged enemy will transfer its charge to a nearby enemy within 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 meters in the material plane. Surged enemies that leave the Rift plane will discharge their Rift energy, ending their surge and resulting in a radial banishment the enemy whose surge is discharged from and any material-bound enemies within 3 / 4 / 4 / 5 meters are forced into the Rift plane for 6 / 10 / 14 / 18 seconds. Limbo produces a surge of Rift energy in a 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 meters radius around him, charging all Rift-bound enemies in range for 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 seconds. I'm going to take you all through my journey of research, hope, discovery, and utter confusion. something, like many I assumed it was useful but beyond my small brain. ![]() Banish makes sense (but has its issues), Stasis makes sense (but has its issues), and Cataclysm makes sense (but has its issues). Most people seem to accept its existence, but I haven't met anyone who really understands it. Rift Surge is one of the greatest enigmas in Warframe. The augment does work with the mechanics of Rift Surge if you are big brain enough, but I very much doubt that people using Rift Surge's augment are simultaneously using Rift Surge's mechanics given using Rift Surge's mechanics means reducing the augment's multiplier before killing enemies. I know the purpose of the augment and how to use it, but using the Rift Surge augment does not mean you are taking advantage of what Rift Surge does. Before I start, I know the Rift Surge augment is a number-go-up meme. ![]() Tactical Lion specializes in creating customized artwork for all of your streaming and social platforms, as well as a range of pre-made templates for quick purchase and use. I really don't see a good reason to don't have both features available.Todoist is one of the best task management services in the market today. It wouldn't be so difficult to add an "every" variation like "every!!", or "!every", or "force every", or "each". Spend money and don't have a trivial feature (considering their current state) like that is really a shame. Well, personally I don't care about the poll, I didn't ask them to change the current behavior, actually the current behavior may be useful in many different situations, I just had like to have the option to choose. To properly reschedule a recurring task, to postpone a recurring task, use the task scheduler by right-clicking (Web, Windows, macOS) or swiping left (iOS, Android) and pick a new date from there. This means that if your task was due yesterday and you complete it today, the task will not move to today. To be honest, it's a contentious issue, our CEO ran a non-scientific poll on Twitter and the current behavior won □If you schedule your recurring task for every! day, your task will set its next due date based on the date you complete the task. Their support isn't that great, the answer was kinda generic, specially the third part where the supporter seems to talk with a dumb person: ![]() ![]() Well, I didn't ask them to change the "every" or the "every!" feature, actually I did request a new feature to "force every ". This way around it has given me much less stress than trying to work it multiple times the same day on the same task while not missing the fact I do need to do it 4 times in total to be caught up. I leave the overdue or recurring task to mean Today's version only and just understand when I complete that one today it was the most recent one, and I'm caught up, and it will reset for tomorrow. So when I have the case where I do intend to do the thing 4 times, I create a duplicate of the recurring task for each day missed but set it to Today rather than recurring so I know I missed it and need to do it multiple times. I don't know there is logic for ToDoIst to discern one intention from the other. Now I do understand there are times you do really mean to do the thing 4 times, one for each day you missed and today before seeing it again tomorrow, even though all are done today. If you don't, it is missed and can't be done in the past or even again today, so resets to tomorrow. I believe it is this way because the use of 'every' implies you would do it every day. ![]() ![]() Then, step by step, we will convert and amend it to use SwiftData as its storage.
